Known today as the ‘Pannier Tank’, GWR’s 5700 Class stood tall as an 863-strong fleet of locomotives that could cope with light goods, shunting, passenger, branch and even mainline use.Their reputation and abundance meant they were a popular contender for smaller companies after the general end of steam, and London Transport put a handful to use on engineer’s trains right up to the early 1970s.The Pannier Tank is represented authentically in the London Transport Heritage Collection, sporting the pristine maroon and gold livery as applied to a select few examples of the remaining locomotives. While a couple of the engines await restoration in real life, London Transport’s Panniers will be raring to steam in Train Simulator, with lucky passengers in-tow as you manage the pressure on the historical run.BR Class 20As the era of steam ended, the British railway network was in need on an entirely new generation of motive power. English Electric would be the starting gun for the country’s early diesels, and one of their pioneering designs, the Type 1, was built as a mixed-goods locomotive that could replace a large sum of not only steam traction, but also other early diesels which were proven unreliable. It seems like DTG are scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to ideas for new DLC.I do think it's nice that they are finally starting to acknowledge the existence of the London Underground, but this pack clearly shows that either TFL were too stubborn to give Dovetail the license for the LU roundel, or Dovetail where just being as lazy as they usually are.I was very disappointed by this DLC, mainly because of how much hype DTG was generating for it. In other words, a case of over-promising and under-delivering. I really hate the term 'Classic Capital Traction' they use at the start of this store page. Just putting that out there.This truely is a mess of a DLC. The bonus route is the only worthwhile part of this pack, even if the stations are all done-up in Network Southeast style when the pack is supposed to have a London Transport theme. I do like the fact that we finally have a remastered Phorum Peninsula, but again, it's let down by the rolling stock itself.The biggest gripe I have with this LT "Heritage" collection is the fact that not a single piece of the included rolling stock is brand-new to Train Simulator. We already had the 1938 tube stock with the Isle of Wight route, the Pannier Tank is a reskin of the Riviera in the 50s Pannier, and the Class 20 has been in-game for about 3 years. It makes no sense why the Class 20 was included, when they have virtually nothing to do with the London Underground, besides bringing the S stock down from Derby. Calling the Pannier's coaches "Push-Pull" is a complete lie, as they are just standard coaches, that are literally just copied and pasted over from the Isle of Wight route. The NSE coaches are from the NSE Class 47 pack. We already had the conflats, 16 ton mineral wagons, vans and the WR brake van, which was copied over from Dovetail's rehash of the Iron Horse House 9F. I know this from looking at the rolling stock list in the scenario editor (it says 'PP 9F WR Brake Van'). Also, the "Push-Pull" coaches were not changed at all. They still say 'Southern Railway'. I thought this collection had a London Transport theme to it!I have realised that only the motive power has a London Transport theme. Everything else is completely random. NSE coaches and stations + miscellaneous goods wagons we already have. This pack is just a complete mess. I only got it for the route, as I like to use it for filming my series of Train Simulator Music Videos (using songs like Land of Confusion by Genesis).My last major complaint is the names of the stations. I mean seriously? King Henry VIII Halt, Jurassic Halt, Channel, Spinswit Harbour? Who comes up with these names? I will throw Dovetail a bone for adding more stations onto this revamped route, as the original Phorum Peninsula only had 5 stations. What I don't understand is why they changed the names of the stations that survived from the original route. Ash Row is now St Paul's, Peddlestown is now Channel, St Bilton is now Vindelis, and Gray's Point is now Stony Point. At least Vindelis station is much brighter under the overall roof than the original St Bilton.So to summarise, this pack had great potential, but what we got as the final product was a huge disappointment. None of the rolling stock is new, and the route doesn't even feel like you're in London, not to mention only the motive power has a London Transport theme. If you really want this pack, I suggest you only get it for the route itself. I can-not recommend this DLC at all. In my opinion, it is nothing more than a big kick in the guts to fans of London Transport and the present day London Underground, like myself.. I bought this mainly for the 1938 stock. Some good work has been done to the original IoW model to bring it up to the 1938 changes. The exterior and interior are great. I find it disrespectful when people suggest its just a reskin of the IoW model. Its not. A lot of care has been taken to make the subtle changes to the model and textures. It drives differently too with lots of script changes.Negatives... Rains inside passenger car. Doors don't open in passenger car view. Doesn't sound like a 1938 Stock train. The only saving grace is I can drive this on the community made Virtual District Line.. I really was expecting much better concerning the 1938 class. The model is pretty good, the passenger interior is superb, but oh dear.... they have re-used the sounds from the IOW. They were awful but we excused it as an early DLC. Even then the tube train sounded like 'nothing like a tube train'. It was like a vacuous cardboard cut-out with no personality. To repeat it is beyond a joke and you should feel insulted. This is, excuse the pun, end of the line rehashed content for an end of the line game. Don't buy it unless someone pulls some better sounds in. Even the 455 sounds would have been better than this hatchet job.. Pros: LT Pannier, Nice route with a few scenarios and fun to shunt and drive on. Cons: Class 20 has a broken horn, Rolling stock is all from pre released items and the route is alright. It would be nice if the 4 wheeler coaches were in Metropolitan livery rather than southern.As you can see compared to the cons there isn't many good things about the route. If you can pick this up for a low price in a sale I'd recommend it if Metropolitan\/LT stuff is to your interests, But not at full price.. Don't buy this. It's just reskins, the route isn't that good anyway. The only positive is that you get the Phorum Peninsula assets. Refund if you can.. CANT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THIS AS HAS NEVER DOWNLOADED DESPITE STEAM SAYING THAT IT HAS BEEN ADDED TO MY COLLECTION. I got this DLC in the sale for \u00a35.99 and for \u00a35.99 it isnt bad. For the full price of \u00a311.99 it isnt value for money in my eyes. Route is a bit short. But it is very nicely detailed with some nice coastal runs and challenging gradients. Not a high speed route by any standard- top speeds of 40mph. Seems to be inspired by the Isle of Wight route. On Quick Drive the Ai is Electrostars which is nice as I like to drive Electostars. The use of NSE Station furniture with London Underground trains is odd. It isnt a bad DLC, the 1938 stock looks superb BUT needs better sounds and physics, but the mishmash of NSE Stations and London Transport traction is a very poor\/odd\/mishmash of a compromise.
